Overview

In this tutorial I will show you to create a fracture animation inside of After Effects using the Blinds and Transform effects. This technique simulates shards of glass and some interesting text animations.

Going Further

I have had a lot of requests for a more in depth explanation on how I created the camera movement for the Fracture Reveal tutorial. Its actually a really simple animation.

With the camera selected, hit ‘p’ on the keyboard to bring up the position settings for the camera. Next just use the slider located next to the ‘x position’. This will allow you to slide the camera to the next scene. Make sure the stopwatch is turned on so that you are creating key frames every step of the way. Also, to make the camera movement smoother, turn on ‘easy-ease’ by highlight all the key frames and pressing F9. I have included the project file below so you can see how I created the entire project.
